Aztec & Nahuatl Dance and Culture at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park
Experience powerful drum rhythms and vibrant regalia as dancers bring ancient symbols to life through movement and storytelling. Celebrate the tradition of Aztec and Nahuatl dance and culture with COMPAS teaching artists Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park.
Kalpulli means “learning community,” and KetzalCoatlicue means “Precious Mother Earth.” This group of Indigenous artists blends dance with music from sacred drums, conch shells, seeds and other instruments from the natural environment. Many participants are youth, with members ranging in age from toddlers to elders.
This event will be held outside of Ravine Landing.
No registration is required, and all ages are welcome. All Washington County Parks are free on the first Tuesday of the month.
This program is funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
