Imaginative Mapping With 3-D Collage: Oceans

March 23 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Marie Tharp was an American mapmaker who famously created the first scientific maps of the ocean floor. Her maps revealed the existence of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a long range of underwater mountains complete with volcanic action that creates new ocean floors as continents drift apart. Learn about the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as you look at underwater maps of the oceans. Then work with an artist to create a 3-D collaged map of the ocean floor, a Mid-Atlantic Ridge as you imagine it.
This program at Park Grove Library is designed for all ages. We encourage children who attend to be accompanied by a caregiver as they may need assistance completing the project. Registration is required for each individual attending the program.
This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
